Therapist Overview
I am an award winning therapist, and psychotherapy researcher based in Teaneck, New Jersey. I work from a relational and psychodynamic approach, and incorporates elements of CBT, and person-centered work. When working with me, you can expect to feel nurtured, validated, and heard. As our work progresses, it is likely that deeply rooted patterns of behaviors become apparent. At this time in our work together, I collaborate with you to explore how this impacts your life on a day-to-day basis, develop insight into the origins of these patterns of behaviors, and work to heal the parts of you that are stuck. I also facilitate the development of coping skills to help with boundary setting, exploration of values, building assertiveness skills, and practicing cognitive, and interpersonal safety. The goal is for you to transform into a version of yourself, you are most comfortable with.
My work is informed by a few assumptions.
1. Every human is deserving of autonomy, respect, and validation.
2. You are the expert of your own life. I can’t tell you what will make you feel better, but I can serve as a guide, as you get to learn and love yourself more deeply.
3. Every human is capable of living an extraordinary life, that makes them proud.
4. Significant early emotional experiences shape who we are, but we can work to become who we want to be.
5. The therapeutic relationship is a significant component of the work I do. I treat it as sacred, and I am dedicated to cultivating it.
6. I believe we are also shaped by our social context, and our identities also influence our lives in significant ways. Therapy can be a place to unpack this, heal, and learn to self-advocacy, and more.
7. Science in all forms should be used to make the world a better place for everyone. To that end, I am committed to social justice through my work, and the way I live my life.
If this sounds like a fit, please reach out, and I look forward to us working together.
