Therapist Overview
Loneliness, fear, and worry are powerful feelings that can keep us disconnected from those around us. You might notice yourself thinking “things have to change” or “I can’t do this anymore.” Perhaps you feel like you’ve tried everything and are exhausted from the effort; you’ve tried to talk to others but walk away feeling misunderstood and lonely. It could even be that the fear of sharing your story and experiences feels overwhelming. Counseling is an opportunity to experience the opposite; it’s a space to connect with someone who listens without judgment or distraction. My approach is to celebrate your unique strengths while introducing new ways to solve a problem, paying equal attention to your internal experience as well external influences. Together, we’ll zoom out the lens and consider what’s working in your life while replacing the ‘stuckness’ with some new approaches at solutions. I’ve worked with adolescents and adults struggling with identity exploration, gender-related stressors, life transitions, identifying and regulating emotions, building self-esteem, relational conflict, and communication, as well as individuals with anxiety, depression, and trauma. I also offer premarital counseling as a PREPARE/ENRICH certified facilitator.
