Therapist Overview
I am a Resident in Counseling approved by the Virginia Board of Counseling working towards Licensure. I am currently under the supervision of Marla Peyser, LPC. I am also a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor. I have worked in outpatient, hospital, and college settings with teens, young adults, and adults. I have worked with individuals experiencing substance use, abuse struggles, trauma, stress, anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship issues, criminal behaviors, physical chronic diagnoses, sports related injuries, eating disorders and major life transitions. Additionally, I have experience working with couples and family dynamics. I approach clients from a holistic viewpoint, paying attention to their mental, spiritual and physical well being. I use person-centered techniques, mixing in aspects of cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy and motivational interviewing. I believe that therapy is challenging, yet opens many doors to self-growth, self- discovery, and self-acceptance. I aim to create an environment where my clients can fully explore themselves in their past, current and future circumstances. Through collaboration with my clients, I help them steer on their journeys through life.
