Therapist Overview

While other programs claim to be ‘trauma-informed’, our practice revolves entirely around trauma therapy. This is what we do best. The Phoenix Center for Experiential Trauma Therapy is named after the legendary figure of the phoenix. Mythology suggests that the phoenix dies and is reborn from its own ashes – it is a symbol of transformation and resilience. The phenomenon of growing after experiencing trauma has been labeled “Post-Traumatic Growth”. This is exactly what we strive to help our clients cultivate in their lives. While we cannot change the past, we can change how past experiences live within us. Has talk therapy proven ineffective for you? Maybe it’s time to try a new approach. Our treatment philosophy is rooted in action-based and experiential trauma therapies including EMDR, psychodrama, gestalt therapy, IFS, and creative arts therapies. We have therapists that specialize in work with people in recovery, the LGBTQ+ community, and adolescents. Dr. Scott Giacomucci, DSW, LCSW, BCD, FAAETS, PAT, is the Founder/Director of the Phoenix Center which has a team of trauma therapists that is constantly growing, as well as graduate interns who are available to provide low-cost services. We are now offering a free community group for social work students and a free group for immigrants/refugees.
