Maybe in the course of caring for others and being their “shoulder to cry on”, you take their problems to heart, to try and lighten their load. A focus on their problems ensue, but before you know it, you’re always tense, not giving your all at work or at home. You just want to go back to your “normal life”, but find it difficult, almost impossible to do so. As a parent of premature children with health difficulties and a spouse to a First Responder, I understand “not having enough time in the day” to make yourself a priority. I offer a safe place to process the trauma, in an office that is not over stimulating for the senses. I incorporate several treatment interventions, tailored to what you need at that time.
