Dear Anxiety, Hello my old friend. I wanted to write this letter to show my appreciation for playing such a consistent role in my life. We developed a deep relationship in my teenage years when I felt like I wasn’t enough; wasn’t worthy, lovable, or able to advocate for myself. I recognize that you were only trying to keep me safe; you didn’t want me to get hurt. You were there to remind me that if I couldn’t be perfect, then I shouldn’t risk going outside of my comfort zone. You also introduced me to our other friends: Depression, Stress and Grief. Thank you for always including me and inviting me into your social group. I wanted to tell you about a new friend I met today, her name is Hope. She has a lot of friends too! Faith, Courage, Love, Confidence, Acceptance, Happiness and Peace. I met Hope for the first time this week when I started seeing a therapist. She told me that I could smile too, it sounded crazy, but maybe I am more capable than we thought. Does this inner di
