Therapist Overview
Inherent in the human condition is the potential for suffering. At times, we may find that our pain, worries, and traumas have overcome our capacity to cope. When our capacities for coping become overwhelmed, we struggle to connect to others, to fulfill our daily obligations, and we may carry haunting feelings of shame and negative thoughts about ourselves, the world, and the future. Also inherent in the human condition is the tremendous capacity for resilience, growth, and healing. I believe that each of us holds within us a unique key to healing. Therapy is the process of compassionately clearing the cobwebs to find that key. I specialize in working with those whose cobwebs are associated with severe depression and anxiety. I also have expertise in the healing of traumatic experiences, including dating and domestic violence, sexual assault, and childhood abuse. I integrate several treatment approaches to support you in achieving emotional balance. I will work with you holistically and collaboratively. I start with getting to know you, including your strengths and reasons for coming to therapy. As we build a trusting, non-judgmental therapeutic relationship, I integrate various therapy approaches tailored for your needs. In addition to talk therapy, I offer yoga and somatic-based therapy approaches.
