Therapist Overview

In today’s society it is not easy being “different”. As humans, we need connection, but sometimes it’s hard to build relationships if who you are doesn’t match the expectations of family or loved ones. Lack of connection can lead to depression and anxiety, especially if you believe you don’t fit in or experience real oppression. Relating authentically to family, friends and co-workers presents unique challenges and counseling can help, especialliy if it’s done together with partners and family members. I believe in the power of relationship–to ourselves, our loved ones, our co-workers, our animal companions, and our environment. I draw from family systems, narrative, emotion-focused and social justice theories to help my clients understand their perspectives, emotional states and personal narratives. We look at how these things impact their sense of peace and contentment with themselves, their families, and society at large. As a family systems and couples counselor, I am committed to helping you deepen your relationship to your partner and your family members so that you can live authentically with love and support. If you think I might be able to help, give me a call.
