Therapist Overview

I’ve focused my practice on substance use issues and addictive problems in people lives. For years I worked with women in eating disorders treatment utilizing an addictions model. Later I focused on men, and substance use disorders. Problems can stem from using drugs as an unproductive coping skill to a deeper more physiologically based problem. Our first job together is to find what your specific problem looks like and then find a way forward that’s suited to your needs. In addition I also offer services evaluating clients for Substance Use Disorders in Family Law and Criminal cases. We too often think of treating substance use problems as a one-size-fits-all approach. I’ve found this isn’t productive. For some people twelve-step programs work brilliantly, for others, not at all. This effort is based on understanding and evaluating each individuals characteristic issues, and strengths.
