Shakespeare famously wrote “to thine own self be true.”I often wonder about what it means to be true to myself, and I know that I am not alone. In today’s fast paced society, it is easy to get lost in the shuffle. Society frequently dictates what seems or appears to be right or perfect, from the type of job that we have, to the way that we look, who we love and how we love, and the choices that we make on a day to day basis. When what we are told is “right or perfect” does not align with our true selves, we may lose our sense of self as well as a sense of belonging. Healing starts with a connection with self. I practice using a trauma informed foundation and utilize a wide variety of theoretical approaches, including Gestalt Therapy, CBT, Mindfulness, Abstinence and Harm Reduction, as well as Health At Every Size (HAES) and Intuitive Eating frameworks when working towards fostering a healthy relationship with the body. I am passionate about working with individuals in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s who are encountering various life transitions, addiction and substance use, trauma and PTSD, as well as creating and developing a healthy relationship with self.
