Therapist Overview
Hello! I’m John (they/them), and I look forward to meeting you. I believe that every human being is able to live a life of joy and connection. We all encounter obstacles to this along the way— in our families and relationships, in our physical health, and in our lived experiences with the larger social and ecological systems around us. The heart of my work is in supporting each person to explore these experiences and use them to develop their own authentic, courageous relationships with self, others, and the wider world. In therapy with me you can expect to be affirmed in your strengths and challenged to grow. You can expect to look for connections across the systems in your life: internal/emotional/physical, family/friends/significant others, and societal/cultural/power systems. You can expect to work with your brain-body connection, relational awareness & self-compassion. Most importantly, you can expect to collaborate with me on developing the approach that works best for you. Together, we will work to create safety and trust so that you can practice being your whole, authentic self in each session– and you will build groundedness, freedom, connection and confidence in your life outside the therapy room.
