Therapist Overview
My areas of focus include treating adolescents & adults with anxiety, depression, and substance use disorders. I am very passionate about helping my patients overcome guilt, shame and self-esteem issues. I incorporate a lot of DBT skills into sessions, helping patients build distress tolerance, emotion regulation and interpersonal communication skills – along with how to apply these skills to their life. I help couples work on communication, validation and empathy as a starting point to resolve their conflict. I’m a believer in the value of developing a structure, schedule and routine to help build a life worth living. I have worked in a variety of settings in the past 10+ years with over 7 years experience treating co-occurring disorders. Before starting my private practice I provided individual and group therapy at an outpatient substance abuse treatment program. I love providing education and support to patients and walking alongside them in their recovery journey. I provide a safe, judgment free space to process and work on hurt and conflict and help determine what’s underneath or at the core of destructive behaviors. I balance empathy and understanding with a direct and humorous approach to help move patients along and closer to reaching their goals.
