Therapist Overview
I have practiced as a professional counselor since 1985, initially in Delaware and then in Pennsylvania. My experience has been with both adults and children in general practice. I have given presentations on the topics of parenting, suicide, stress management, ethics, community resources, and LGBTQI issues. I have facilitated support groups for adoptive parents and moderated activity groups for both children and the elderly. I have managed outpatient clinical mental health clinics for children. I particularly appreciate the issues facing members of the LGBTQI community, and want to provide a welcoming, affirming, and safe space to work through the effects wrought by prejudice, fear, and rejection that they have experienced. My preferred approach is cognitive-behavior therapy – how our thought patterns affect our emotional responses and behavior. This is a proven method for assisting clients to make positive change in their lives.
