Therapist Overview
As a former educator, I have extensive expertise with the populations of children, adolescents, and young adults, with specialties in adoption and non-traditional families. I enjoy watching my clients utilize their own strengths and talents to make changes and find personal growth. My approach is generally integrative, and I’ve worked with a wide range of diagnoses ranging from anxiety issues, ADHD, anger management, eating disorders, blended families, and families of adoption and foster-care. I am an advanced practitioner for Adoption Competent therapy, certified by UW-Milwaukee and C.A.S.E. I generally prefer a cognitive-behavioral, solution-based method utilizing an individual’s strengths. I believe that there are multiple pathways to improved mental health, including physical well-being, education and spirituality. My treatment interests include establishing comprehensive treatment approaches for adoptive families, which I created after adopting our oldest son. Before becoming an outpatient therapist, I previously worked as an in-home counselor and high school teacher. I spent five years coaching cross country & track for high schools and universities. In my spare time, I enjoy film, running and baseball. I also write and podcast about sports and pop culture.
