Therapist Overview
If you have you seen those around you establishing a career, excelling in school, or starting their own family and you sometimes feel left behind, it can be easy to lose hope. Maybe nothing in high school or college truly grabbed your interest or you became ill, a loved one passed away or you had another loss out of the blue. You might feel lost, like you missed the boat and are now dealing with constant sadness and anxiety. You would like to truly figure out where you fit, and be able to wake up with a sense of meaning or at least some direction and hope. We seek therapy when unexpected losses occur or we no longer feel able to cope with daily stress. During such times, we take a risk in opening ourselves to someone we hope will be empathetic, nonjudgmental, and skilled. There are many approaches aimed at improving our ability to function, but the foundation is always built on a solid and trusting alliance. Though I value my training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Prolonged Exposure for PTSD, I firmly believe that authenticity, creativity, and flexibility are the most valuable characteristics of a therapist. Drawing from a foundation in CBT and mindfulness, I am able to guide you through a difficult transition. I offer some night and weekend availability.
