Therapist Overview
My name is Rachel Gitelson and I specialize in the treatment of families, children, adolescents, and individuals. I use a mindfulness based approach to my work, integrating cognitive behavioral therapy and family systems theory to treat the individual within the dynamics of his or her family unit. I support couples in the challenges of parenting in today’s world, and come from a strength-based perspective in which I believe we are all doing the best we can given the resources that we have. I received my Masters of Social Work from Loyola University of Chicago in 2004 and I trained at Northwestern University’s Stone Institute of Psychiatry. In 2009 I completed a Certificate in CBT at Boston University. I worked as a family therapist for a number of years at Bradley Hospital, a Brown University children’s psychiatric teaching hospital. I believe in a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach to working with children and families in order to best serve my clients complex needs.
