Therapist Overview
As someone who has struggled with mental illness and received support from countless loving individuals over the years, it is always my mission to extend the same level of compassion and care to my clients. I believe that counseling is a way for individuals, couples, and families to share their experiences and pain and find ways to transform their darkness into light. My clinical interests include (but are not limited to) working with adolescents and adults struggling with addiction and substance abuse, working with at-risk populations (minorities, low socioeconomic status, legal system involvement), and couple/family therapy work. With training in marriage and family therapy, I work from a systemic perspective with all clients, meaning that I will gather information about all areas of an individualās life to assess needs and the effects that each area may have on the others. Often times, singular changes may only help in one avenue of life. Looking through a systemic lens offers the ability for individuals to create lasting transformations through self-awareness about their unmet needs. Taking the first step toward growth can be anxiety-ridden and challenging, but well worth it in the end. I am always privileged to walk with clients on their journeys no matter the phase of life.
