When people are unhappy or anxious or distressed, they sometimes consider consulting a psychologist. I am not so concerned about finding a label for you as I am about helping you to find a way to enjoy your life and your relationships and be productive in a way that you find satisfying. My original training was psychodynamic, but now my approach is quite flexible and eclectic. I seek an approach that fits your problem and situation, and that may be insight-oriented, cognitive behavioral, using hypnosis or simply supportive, as we explore together, at a pace you are comfortable with, your goals and concerns. I have clients of all ages and particularly enjoy working with adolescents and young adults, but I don’t so much have “a favorite kind of patient” as much as preferring to work with someone who is open, willing to talk about their concerns and willing to work on them.
