As unique individuals who come from different cultural backgrounds and experiences, it can be challenging navigating in a society that is constantly labeling and putting us in a box. I understand that culture goes far beyond race and ethnicity, including gender, sexuality, different personalities, and mental diagnoses. Sometimes the things that make us unique can sometimes leave us in distress if what we feel and think or if who we are is not consistent with society’s expectations. As a self -identified black lesbian, I understand the unique challenges that our community faces. I understand how the intersectionality of race, gender, and sexuality can further create distress in individuals. I understand that representation matters. I am here to help. My therapeutic approach varies depending on each individuals’ needs. I specialize in working with the LGBTQ community and other minority populations.
