Possibly it is another type of challenge, such as recovery from addiction or trauma. Maybe your child is experiencing their own difficulties and you want to help them, but you aren’t sure how. You have questions and concerns: Is what I’m feeling ok? How do I best help and support myself and/or my child? How will I re-make my life? What does healing mean to me … and who am I as I undertake that process? Your questions are valid, and exploring them could be helpful. I employ a person-centered approach and utilize trauma-informed methods to create a therapeutically nurturing, boundaried, and intentionally collaborative relationship with you. This allows you to honor, express, and explore the challenges and changes in your life – and the grief that accompanies them – in ways that work best for you. We all experience change – and the subsequent losses that come with it – within the context of a powerful culture that often discourages, belittles, or even shames us for seeking help. Consequently, I offer a counter-cultural experience that is deeply rooted in ethical principles and practice.
