I have worked for over 15 years in a variety of settings with diverse populations. Most experience has been with kids and adolescents who have emotional/behavioral issues. These issues can take place at school, home, or in the community. Parent/caregiver participation is necessary when needed. I also have experience with adults who struggle from every day challenges which can create emotional distress leading to unwanted thoughts, feelings, and sometimes behaviors. I also provide couples counseling who are looking to strengthen their communication or problem-solving skills. Understanding how this works does take time and effort. I utilize a rational-emotive behavioral approach that focuses on how certain events create an emotional response which leads to a particular behavior. By recognizing the control we have reduces unwanted thoughts and feelings that otherwise limit us from leading a healthier life. This can be challenging but also brings further awareness to our understanding. I offer a compassionate, unbiased, and relaxed environment that will assist in how your understanding impacts everyday life.
