Therapist Overview
I believe that the relationship between the patient and therapist is sacred. Many people come to therapy having been betrayed by important people in their lives, and having a trustworthy and consistent therapist can help patients repair these wounds. I consider it my life’s work to help patients work through their past hurts so that they can live healthier and happier lives. “Sometimes we have to go backward in order to go forward.” My sentiments are also backed by research, as the therapeutic alliance is the single most important factor for therapeutic success. I am committed to building this foundation with all of my patients. Upon building a solid relationship with my patients, I work from an eclectic practice model, meaning that I draw from the principles of several practice theories. My overarching orientation is Humanistic Theory, which embodies the notion that human beings have their own answers within, and that with the proper guidance from a therapist, the patient improves. I have experience working with multiple populations, including people suffering from chronic illness, people living with HIV/AIDS, people living with kidney failure, the LGBTQ population, people of color, people suffering from drug and alcohol addiction, depression and anxiety, and bipolar disorder. As a generalist practitioner, I welcome adults and teens.
