Therapist Overview
At some point, people face barriers between how they are perceived and who they want to be. And at some point life can hit us with random or chronic disruptions. Whether or not your mental health warrants a diagnosis, a core component to counseling is to identify and treat the imbalance in wellness. This includes identifying internal and external issues. Counseling may be the right resource if you are feeling unhappy, scared, lonely, frustrated, confused, overwhelmed…or any combination of emotions. Counseling may also be needed if your behavior is negatively impacting your wellness and relationships with others. I utilize “whole person” models such as the BioPsychoSocial model and the Wheel of Wellness. Before identifying treatment goals, I believe it is important to explore (1) your strengths, (2) your needs, and (3) areas in your life that are not congruent with who you want to be and how you want to live. My practice is open to all people who are willing to make a commitment and respect our partnership. In addition to the previously listed mental health issues, two of my heightened passions include counseling concerns that are rooted in multicultural and diversity issues; and major life transitions (positive or negative in nature) for all ages and genders.
