I believe in the desire and ability of each of us to grow and to become our best selves. More than ability, really – this is our propensity, our basic nature. I remember as a high school student learning about tropism, about how plants turn toward the sun. I was fascinated with that, and still am. But life intrudes. We’re told we can’t do that, we are not this way. There may have been trauma. We forget what our truth is. There are the challenges of any life: how to navigate love and loss, the big existential issues of loss and grief; the ultimate reality of death. The everyday losses, letting go of attachments; the need, ultimately – to let go and live in the reality of this moment. There is the need to look more closely at how we speak to each other, and how we know what to say, to speak our truth; what is our truth? I meet you where you are, and use the type of therapy appropriate for you. It may be client-centered insight-oriented psychotherapy or problem-solving counseling. We may use CBT or DBT therapy; a Jungian perspective. I respect all spiritual paths and we may bring a Buddhist or other religious perspective to the work, if that is your request.
