Chicago Pride Center is committed to providing lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer and gender expansive folx and their allies a road to recovery in a safe, affirming environment through evidence-based substance use, sexual health, and mental health treatment. Our highly trained, skilled and culturally sensitive staff understands the complexities of experience and identity in the LGBTQ/GE communities and is committed to helping our clients live happy, healthy and expansive lives. We offer hope- a pathway to overcome addiction and behavioral health issues by acknowledging the complex connection between the social environment, behavioral health and substance use, freeing our clients to enjoy a greater sense of connection and empowerment with meaning and purpose in their lives. Hugh has over 10 years of experience working with LGBT, gender expansive and HIV impacted adolescents and adults in individual, relationship, family and group therapy. He specializes in helping people move out of stuck places, healing trauma and loss, and changing destructive behavior patterns in an empathic, relational and strengths-based context. He values the uniqueness of each person and tailors the therapy to the specific needs and preferences of the individual in an environment that is direct and transparent, yet gentle and supportive. Whether you are struggling with substance use, depression, anxiety, discontent in a relationship or lonely without one, change is possible. Hugh provides a safe healing environment for freeing your potential. You will have a partner and advocate on your side who brings a depth of experience, anti-oppressive frameworks and training to work for you. Kurt has 15 years of experience working as a licensed clinical social worker specializing in LGBTQ substance abuse and mental health. He can help you through a process of change and guide you to a more satisfying peaceful way of living. Kurt offers a warm safe environment where you can take time to focus on yourself. His approach is empathic, supportive and relational. His work challenges old destructive thinking patterns to make space for stronger, more positive cognition. His specializations include addiction/alcoholism, compulsive behaviors, depression/anxiety, loss/death and people struggling with growing older.
