My psychology career began in the former Yugoslavia when I went there as a reporter to cover the civil war and ended up working as a counselor at a refugee center instead. At that time, I had already received my BA in psychology from UCLA, where I had graduated magna cum laude. Upon returning to The States, I went to Antioch University and earned my MA.
