Therapist Overview

I have 40+ years’ experience working in the mental health field. Positions include serving as clinical director of addiction rehab for women, group preparation and selection for adoption and foster placement, disaster recovery, leading support groups for families of veterans, and counseling with seniors and their families. I have also worked with grief issues. This experience has led to a specialization in helping individuals, families, and couples learn how to cope and communicate in effective ways and to find meaning in their past experiences. My favorite technique to use with couples and families is intention therapy. The basis of intention therapy is to learn from conflict to develop better communication skills and to better understand the unmet needs within the marriage or the family. I use many other marital and family techniques to bring about the desired changes in a relationship. If you need help and are experiencing symptoms of trauma, such as anxiety, depression, and negative thoughts or you have marital or family issues, please reach out. I offer a safe and confidential environment, and a free consultation to determine if my experience and approach is a good fit for you.
