Therapist Overview
My passion for counseling was sparked amidst my own personal experience with clinical depression and anxiety. Therapy played an essential role in my recovery, and as a result I developed a deep respect for the therapeutic process and the field of counseling. After 7 years as a teacher, I went back to school and earned my Masters in Counseling at UNT in 2013. I have worked in a variety of settings; most recently, I have had the privilege of providing therapy for some exceptionally brave and wonderful clients at The Center for Discovery outpatient eating disorder treatment center, treating both teens and adults. I currently counsel pre-adolescents, adolescents and adults utilizing various interventions such as talk therapy, activity therapy, sand tray therapy, expressive arts therapy, parent consultations, family therapy and couples therapy. My approach is influenced by (but not limited to) CBT, DBT, and Adlerian theory. A strong counselor/client relationship is the foundation from which all therapeutic work is accomplished.
