I have found that resistance is not a sign of non-compliance but a signal that more time needs to be spent making a connection. Pace of treatment should be set by the patient themselves. Each person will be assessed for what treatment modality will be most beneficial, and not which will get the results the quickest. My personal goal for treatment is to see the patient feel they can trust me as their provider in addition to locating their strengths, support systems, and a tool kit of ways to cope with life’s stressors. My specialities include children, adolescent and young adults who are struggling with anxiety and mood disorders. I have experience working with individuals transitioning from an inpatient, higher level of care, back into outpatient care. With that said, I am comfortable with those that are overcoming self-harm, suicidal ideation, and aggressive behaviors. My intention is not to lead a structured session that feels rehearsed.
