Therapist Overview
Trauma informs how we relate in the world and can be complex, confusing, and painful with multiple layers. Coping or trying to cope with trauma is challenging, interfering with what most consider “normal life activities.” Its hard to explain to others who do not understand and who have never experienced something that “rocked” their world in a disturbing, sometimes literally life threatening way. When there has been any degree of trauma, what was is no longer and what is frightens, disorients us. Behaviors, thinking, feelings change in the shadow of trauma. There is help available and you are not alone. Recovery is possible. I have been in practice for over 30 years and have worked with many who are bruised. My focus, First Responders/Family’s, their needs unique, yet trauma, in some form, at some level on the scale of possibility, is present in many. I work from a psychodynamic foundation and use any approach that might help. Brainspotting, my primary trauma treatment, works! I have personal life experience with trauma that allows me to relate and have genuine, honest compassion for wounded people. You do not have to walk alone. Let me help you navigate through your pain toward a healthier life. Unhealthy coping skills only compound the problems. You can learn new ones. Live a life that you love. Please ask for help.
