Therapist Overview
If you experience frequent anxiety and panic attacks, depressed feelings or obsessive and compulsive behavior, it can cause severe distress and disruption in daily life affecting your well-being. Making choices and finding meaning in life may have become difficult. In my private practice, I focus on counseling and treatment in children, teens and adults who deal with any or all of those feelings and conditions. I like to offer a strength-based and person-centered approach. In a collaborative therapeutic relationship, we will work together for you to reach your goals for therapy and learn how to use your strengths effectively. Based on diversified professional training and experience, I like to integrate different therapy methods, working primarily from a Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) perspective. I like to offer Exposure Response Prevention Therapy (ERP) in order to reduce symptoms by teaching clients how to face their fears in a gentle, supportive therapeutic environment. I have worked with children, teens, and adults with trauma and stress-related problems. I am certified in the practice of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). In couples therapy, I like to apply the Gottman Method interventions. I speak English, German, and Dutch, and I provide therapy to individuals speaking any of those languages.
