Therapist Overview
“We are on a journey together.” This motto has guided my personal/professional life. Throughout my life’s journey, we’ve navigated many of life’s trials, LGBTQ challenges, health/mental health illnesses, marital discord, and many life transitions. People have an inherent ability to endure trials. For some trials, an impartial listener is required. It is my role to help cultivate well-being within yourself and relationships with others, helping you gain a new perspective and create strategies to manage the trials you are enduring. Focusing on client-centered solutions and nourishing personal strength is the work we will do together. My approach is multi-faceted, much like the clients I counsel with. I use Solution Focused, Strength-Based Therapy and an Insight-Oriented model. In addition, my work is informed by Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Brené Brown’s work on vulnerability, shame, and courage. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I received my Bachelors’ degree at the University of Utah served in the U.S. Navy for 3 years. I ended my career in the Navy to raise four children and follow my husband’s 26-year naval career. I obtained my Masters of Social Work degree at the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Social Work.
