Therapist Overview
My approach is collaborative, gentle, and places an importance on creating a strong therapeutic relationship. Developing trust, understanding, and authenticity is essential before any meaningful healing can take place. I provide traditional “talk” therapy during sessions as well as use the intuition of our bodies to provide a somatically oriented approach to better inform the connection between thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationships. I look forward to creating a safe space with you that encourages curiosity, embodiment, growth, & healing. I also continually strive to expand my knowledge base by attending workshops, continuing education conferences, and reading books & journal articles in order to stay up to date with the latest treatment modalities, techniques, and recommendations. I have a particular interest in somatic approaches, neurobiology, trauma, child development, and attachment. I am formally trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Level 1, Motivational Interviewing, Family Systems Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Eating Disorders, and Embodied Recovery Level 2 and I also follow Health At Every Size (HAES) principles. I am scheduled to participate in the RDU Level 2 Sensorimotor Psychotherapy training in May 2020.
