I believe that we all have an innate ability to make healthy changes in our lives, and that there are often complex barriers that can get in the way of doing so, such as having low self-esteem, relationship problems, history of trauma, unresolved family of origin issues, workplace stressors, and substance use and/or other self-defeating behaviors. My clinical approach as a therapist is to offer from a neutral perspective an ongoing objective identification of challenges that may negatively impact one’s quality of life and overall functioning, and to also help facilitate the identification of goals that are realistic and attainable. I completed an intensive two-year course of study and supervised clinical practice in 1995 that was offered by the Psychotherapy Training Center at Providence Portland.
