VIDEO COUNSELING AVAILABLE. Counseling often starts very intense and emotional, but more often than not we must walk through the darkness to make it to the light. I am very passionate about helping survivors of abuse from toxic family or intimate relationships and medical trauma/chronic illness. I find it incredibly fulfilling when those who had lost their sense of self find their voice again and are able to feel positive emotions such as safety and happiness. It energizes me to take in all of the facts a client shares, uncover themes so together we problem solve methods to break old habits into healthier ways to live. Therapy allows a person to express their life story and learn skills to cope with the inevitable tough times, which are helpful to everyone. Friends and family are wonderful, but they are not the same as a trained professional. I am a National Board Certified Counselor, with two master’s degrees, 8 years of higher education, plus ongoing training annually. I believe in following the same self-care that I encourage for my clients. I am a member of a local mindfulness group that meets regularly. I have totes full of journals, art books, and have been meditating for over 15 years. It takes a great deal of strength and vulnerability try counseling.
