Therapist Overview
My goals in therapy center around two ideas: helping you feel better and helping you get better. Life gets complicated for all of us (either throughout our lives or during parts of our lives). Sometimes we just need someone else to help guide us through it and teach us a new way to approaching our difficulties. One part involves helping you gain confidence that you can have control of your life, & the other involves challenging your beliefs and world views that keep you from living life to the fullest. Helping you feel better involves compassionate listening and understanding your concerns through your worldview. For getting you better I plan to work with and teach you skills to help you be able to cope with what’s going on around you. This involves examining how you think, feel, cope, and react to situations around you and examine if it is truly helping you or hindering you. You likely made the best decisions you could at the time. You only realize later that the way you’ve coped isn’t as helpful as it once was or is now. I’ve worked in the mental health field for 12 years and have recently joined this practice. What I have seen people work through and survive in my personal experiences and with my clients confirms that although getting better may be difficult, it IS possible.
