I often tell people that each one of us carries around an invisible backpack filled with things that inform who we are. Our behaviors, beliefs, and values are all impacted by what we carry in our backpack. Sometimes our backpacks get too heavy. Things from our past may be too much to carry. As a therapist, I help people sort through what’s in the backpack. Together we look at what needs to go and what needs to stay. I work hard to have a welcoming and inviting space. The therapy session is a no judgment zone. I have experience working with individuals of every age, ability, and orientation. I utilize Mindfulness, Person Centered Counseling, and EMDR most often in my practice. While EMDR may seem most appropriate for individuals who experience trauma, studies show that EMDR is beneficial for most mental health related needs. If you are feeling stuck and not making progress, EMDR may be a good option to consider. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence based therapy that is widely recognized as a beneficial therapy for trauma, as well as memories which cause individuals some sort of distress. I am passionate about using EMDR therapy with clients and have seen many individual’s lives changed as a result of EMDR.
