As humans, our natural inclination is to move away from pain. But at a certain point, we may find that the strategies that once protected us are causing us even more pain. Together we can find ways to break old cycles that are keeping you stuck in order for you to move into the wholeness you desire. Many times when healing feels impossible, it is only an indication that what we have tried so far will not suffice. This is when it is necessary to mindfully keep one foot in the present and one foot in the past in order to safely reprocess certain memories and emotional responses. Most of my early clinical experience took place as the lead therapist in an intensive treatment program, with a focus on complex trauma and its co-occurring disorders. This gave me a deep understanding of the ways in which childhood wounds reemerge in adolescence and adulthood, helping clients safely examine their pasts without dwelling on them.
