Therapist Overview
For 15 years, I was a NYC public school teacher working in specialized high schools and that experience has informed my understanding of how our intersectional identities influence how we comfortably we move in our world today. I believe that personal, cultural and societal narratives can influence who we are and what we believe we can achieve. I adapt play therapy techniques to help all people navigate life’s provocations. I also am an avid gamer and utilize ‘Geek Therapy’ as developed by Josué Cardona, as a mindset and model for integrating positive applications of video & tabletop games, RPGs and other staples of Geek culture. I have a MA from UCLA, a MA Ed. from Brooklyn College and LMSW from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. I am completing my post graduate training in couples and family therapy at the Ackerman Institute. I use an eclectic approach to counseling including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, narrative, systemic and psychoanalytic theory. My experience has given me insight into families navigating careers, parenting, educational systems and the unique stressors of living in New York City. Your treatment plan will be tailored to your specific needs, the issues you are struggling with and the goals you want to achieve.
