Therapist Overview
I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with over 20 years of experience. I diagnose and treat depression, mood disorders, anxiety, and personality disorders. I have worked extensively with those suffering from PTSD, especially women who are survivors of sexual and physical violence. I engage collaboratively with individuals to explore their lives, and provide support to improve insight and gain courage to make desired changes. Healthy coping skills are developed and practiced to manage distress, symptoms and issues in a more healthy manner in order to improve the overall quality of one’s life and reduce daily suffering. I trust in genuinely “being present” with a individual in therapy and believe it important to find a “good fit” with a counselor. My therapeutic style is humanistic, and I use eclectic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral therapy. I also believe that insight into how social issues contribute to our own lives is integral to improving our well being. It is hard to reach out. I am always amazed by the resilience and strength of those that I have had the benefit of seeing. I have had the privilege of working with a diverse population and believe in providing a safe, and affirming therapeutic experience for all people. Although it can take time and patience, I have witnessed real hope and progress occur.
