Starting therapy with someone new can be an intimidating process. I believe that building a therapeutic relationship starts with getting to know each client and creating an engaging space. It can be difficult for anyone to sit down and simply talk to a new person. I utilize various approaches that can include playing games, creating art, listening to music, and more especially when working with children/adolescents. These techniques can engage and encourage them to come back and start opening up. I have experience working with all ages, and I see both adults and children. I am close to UCONN and Eastern and work with many students. Each person that I work with is unique in their own ways, and I tailor my approach specifically to each client. I believe that therapy is about processing both the past and present, and moving forward.
