Therapist Overview

My specialty includes working with adolescents and their families who have experienced trauma. This includes adoption trauma as well as emotional and/or physical abuse. I am able to help both the adolescent and their family understand the affects of trauma on the brain and subsequent behaviors that ensue. I feel it is important to examine attachment issues as well as emotional regulation. I believe that through relationship the brain can be “rewired” to react to stressors in more effective ways. It would be my privilege to walk through this process with any adolescent who desires change. Through sharing my knowledge of the brain and the affect trauma has on it, I have been able to help parents understand their teens as well as help the teens understand themselves. Through empathy and understanding growth can be achieved. Through relationship change is possible. I believe that life is better when we are not ignoring the realities of our pain and struggles, loss, hurt or loneliness. Life
