Walking is beneficial for both the body and mind. My practice, Trailtalk ®Aspen combines exercise and psychotherapy. Clients share life struggles and situations while walking along the beautiful trails of the Roaring Fork Valley. Mood-improving physical activity propels clients forward both literally and figuratively. Exercise releases endorphins (the feel-good hormones) and exposure to natural light is an added benefit. Just being outside can help alleviate depression and grief. And often, “Aha” moments are facilitated by physical activity. Walk and talk therapy is especially conducive to teenagers who have a hard time opening up. Walking side by side in the great outdoors, can be more appealing than sitting in an office looking directly at the therapist.
