Therapist Overview
In my experience, therapy can bring about real and lasting change. The therapeutic relationship is the key to that growth and change. The more you get to know and trust yourself, the better your relationships will be with others. I value listening carefully and working collaboratively with clients in a down-to-earth, gentle, and direct way. We look at how the past can influence the present and how current behaviors and feelings may interfere with having fulfilling, intimate relationships at home or at work. I particularly like working with women wanting to find their own voice and strength. This involves identifying needs/wants and learning to work with difficult emotions such as anger, jealousy, or fear. I use an integrated approach influenced by object relations theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), many Buddhist teachings, and a splash of humor!
