Therapist Overview
Children and Adolescents often struggle with emotions; identifying, expressing or processing their feelings can be very difficult. Anger can rear its ugly head when underneath it may really be a whole bunch of other emotions going on. Some children need to express themselves other than verbally. Play and art therapy, sand tray, and therapeutic games can be used as ways for kids to process emotions without talking or feeling pressured. Children often just need to be heard, given a voice, and provided with opportunity for little successes that can increase their self-esteem. Parents are invited to learn valuable skills as well. I am able to create a safe secure environment where a child can learn, grow, heal, and move toward a more healthy way to cope with the waves of life. I use a trauma-informed approach to help the child feel comfortable in the therapeutic setting. I am a certified facilitator of Circle of Security Parenting Program to offer parents guidance too. If you have or know of a child who is struggling with behaviors, emotions, or has experienced trauma, please reach out and I will do my very best to help the child navigate through his/her problems to find a better outcome. I believe every child deserves to be heard, and given tools to “ride the waves of change”. I am also happy to work with adults!
