I practice a style of therapy called walk and talk therapy that utilizes nature as one of the tools of therapeutic engagement. I walk and talk with clients out of doors in all four seasons. During sessions we may occasionally sit on a nearby stump or boulder, but mostly we are moving. Movement helps integrate psychological processes into the body and the physical process of releasing endorphins during exercise enhances mood and allows for shifts in thinking. Nature is a wonderfully healing tool. Durango’s scenic beauty and quiet network of trails are the perfect place to derive the benefit of this style of therapy. I specialize in mindfulness based techniques, engaging the present moment, developing awareness, meaning making, and transpersonal (fancy word for spiritual) therapy.
