Therapist Overview
**Not currently accepting new clients** I specialize in issues related to anxiety, depression, adhd, adverse life events, family of origin issues, self-esteem, and trauma. My approach to therapy is individualized. As I learn more about you, we will begin to establish what areas might be most helpful to focus on in our sessions. I consider myself a process-oriented therapist, meaning I am constantly updating and considering my approach each time we meet and then tailoring my approach. I believe that past experiences have an impact on how we manage situations and emotions today and that making those connections are valuable. My strength as a therapist is in building strong relationships with my clients. My hope is that clients feel I genuinely care about them. I see clients as the experts of themselves with my job being to help them build skills and use their strengths to manage emotions. Therapy can be hard work, but it also can include laughter and celebration. I enjoy working with pre-teens, teens (even those who don’t want to come to therapy), and adults of all ages. I am an LGBTQIA friendly therapist. I am trained in EMDR, a therapy used to address adverse life experiences. My office is conveniently located 2 blocks South of Downtown Iowa City with metered parking out front and a parking garage a block away.
