Therapist Overview
You may be facing challenges in your life or are having difficulty coping with the stress of everyday life. My approach is to provide a caring, empathetic and supportive environment in which we can develop a partnership to foster change, healing, and growth. I believe your problems do not define you and are not the entirety of who you are. I recognize that our own background and experiences impact us and our ability to adapt to stress. Race, culture, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, sexual orientation and the community we live in can influence how we perceive things. A core principle of mine is to be genuine, nonjudgmental and validate clients’ experiences and feelings. Over the past 25 years, in a variety of settings, I have developed extensive knowledge and practice in working with multi-stressed clients from a variety of backgrounds. I have discovered that people are stronger and more resilient than they think. The primary therapeutic approach I work with is narrative, collaborative, and strength based. I utilize other approaches, including cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), family systems, and solution-focused therapy. I have specific training in Narrative Therapy, traumatic stress, batterers intervention, and family systems.
