Therapist Overview
I get excited about working with my clients – getting to know you is the BEST part of what I do. And I totally understand what a leap of courage it can be to go to therapy. I’d love to hear what you have already tried, why it hasn’t worked (or if it has, too), and what seems to be blocking your path. These are very helpful clues in our path of discovery. From there, I have a tool bag we can draw from, and with your feedback, we’ll find something that works. :) Your feedback is the key! Some methods I use are Gottman’s relationship research, Sue Johnson’s emotion-focused work, Brene Brown’s work on shame/vulnerability/resilience, and Rogerian person-centered techniques. Please see my website for more info to better assess if we’d be a great fit: sharaogilvie.com. It’s important that you feel safe (not judged) while in therapy. When I was young, I was afraid of therapy, so if you feel that way I understand, and I will listen. As a personal note….I love exercise, yummy treats, long baths, and watching YouTube. Also, I’m working on a PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology.
