People sometimes have this misconception that counseling is to “fix people” or that they “are the problem.” I do not think people are problems, but that we all have problems. Sometimes these problems need additional help and support that counseling can provide. This is why I utilize a wellness approach to counseling. A wellness approach focuses on the whole person by helping clients to identify their strengths and wants while assisting them with problems they are experiencing. I earned my master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lewis University. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. I have provided treatment for mood disorders (depression, bipolar), anxiety disorders, and struggles adjusting to life changes (i.e. divorce, moving, transitioning to a new school/career), self-esteem, and trauma.
